I like how Tchitcherine's relationship with Wimpe is stubbornly hypothetical...
Noticed that Wimpe (remembered by Tchitcherine *if* the two had ever met) talks about Carothers of DuPont, the chemist who invented nylon, so that is referenced directly (at least) twice in the book.
